Sample: a caller reaches voicemail, a text goes back within a minute in your company's name, they reply, pick a time and are booked. Two weeks later they get a review request.

Why the missed call is the most expensive one

You can't pick up the phone two stories up, in the middle of a tear-off, or while you're talking to a homeowner on their driveway. That's normal. The trouble is what the caller does next. A lot of people who reach voicemail don't leave a message. They go back to the search results and call the next roofer, and whoever answers first usually gets the inspection.

By the time you call back that evening, they've already booked someone else. You never find out the job existed. Multiply that by a busy week, or by the days after a hailstorm when the phone doesn't stop, and it adds up to real work walking out the door.

A text back changes that. The caller hears from you while they're still holding the phone, so they don't need to keep looking.

What happens after a missed call

  1. The text goes out. Within a minute of a missed call, the caller gets a short, friendly text from your business: sorry we missed you, here's a link to book a free inspection, or reply and we'll call you back.
  2. They book themselves. The link shows the open times on your calendar. They pick one, and it lands there with their name, address and what they need. No phone tag.
  3. You get the details. You see the booking on your phone, along with the text thread, so you know who's coming before you call.
  4. A reminder goes out. Before the visit, the homeowner gets a reminder, so fewer people forget and fewer drives are wasted.
  5. A review request follows the job. When the work is done, they get a text with your Google review link while they're still happy with the result.

The same thing happens for web forms. A quote request from your site gets an instant reply and the booking link, day or night, so the homeowner who fills it out at 10 pm hears from you at 10 pm.

What's included

The core system is a one-time setup at $1,500: the instant reply for missed calls and forms, online booking on your calendar, reminders and review requests, all in your company's name.

Lead Response, $400 a month, keeps it running. That covers the software, upkeep and fixes, changes when your hours or services change, and a short video each month showing what came in, what booked and how many reviews you collected. It also covers your business phone number and carrier fees. You only pay for texts and call minutes, at cost, shown on each invoice.

A few add-ons roofers often ask for:

  • Estimate follow-up (+$200): a short series of emails after you send an estimate, plus texts to homeowners who agreed to them, so the one who said they'd think about it hears from you again.
  • Website chat (+$200 setup, +$50/mo): an AI assistant that answers common questions and books inspections at any hour, and passes the rest to you.
  • WhatsApp replies and bookings (+$150 setup, messaging fees at cost), for customers who'd rather message there.

Text messages switch on once US carriers approve your business for texting, usually 1 to 3 weeks after we file. Until then, replies go out by email. The carrier registration is covered by your setup fee.

What changes for you

Nothing new to learn. Texts and bookings show up on your phone and your calendar. You keep working, and the follow-up runs behind you. When you want to step in, you reply in the same thread and the homeowner sees it come from your business.

We set it all up and look after it. We're a two-person team with no office and no sales staff, so the monthly price goes into running your system, not into overhead. You message us any time. We answer your questions in writing. If something is easier to show than explain, we'll send a short video.

Common questions

Will the text sound like a robot?

No. We write it with you, in your words, and it signs off with your company name. Most homeowners just see a quick, polite reply from the roofer they called.

Does it call people for me?

No. It texts the person who just called you and lets them book. Any call back comes from you or your office.

Can I keep my current website?

Yes. The core system works alongside the site you have, wherever it's hosted. We connect your current quote form to it, or, if your site can't connect, give you a form to use in its place. Any other changes to your current site are priced in your written quote. If your site is part of the problem, a new roofing site and the core system together take $500 off the setup.

Do I keep my phone number?

Yes. The number on your trucks and your Google listing stays yours. Usually the calls you don't answer forward to the business number in your plan, so those callers still get the text back. If you'd rather move your number over completely, we can do that too.

See it on your own business first

Every Levelwork job starts with a free demo. You pick a design, we build a demo in it with your company name, services and towns, with Lead Response running behind it, then send you a short video walking through it, or go through it on a 20-minute call if you'd rather talk. Your real site is then designed for you. If it isn't worth it to you, you've lost nothing.
